Likewise, they each could have read Tolkein by age 8 or so, but I didn't offer the books to them. The same is true of my second son ~ also now reading the Redwall books at age 10. Because he's an advanced reader, he certainly could have read them at an earlier age. My oldest thoroughly enjoyed the series, many of which he read around age 10. Short answer: I doubt your son would be 'bored' by Redwall. I know this is really stoopid but I just can't decide! Decide for me! LOL It's mostly that I'm indecisive and haven't read any of the above myself. So do you think Redwall will be a good next thing or maybe Harry Potter? :confused: Or what about The Hardy Boys? Do people still read those? :tongue_smilie: Are they at about this reading level too? If I got him into those I'm thinking I wouldn't have to suggest anything else for a loooong time because there are so many! LOL

My question is, after something as epic as Lord of the Rings, is Redwall maybe going to be boring to him? (If I'm insulting Redwall, I do it out of pure ignorance so don't hate me (but you can laugh at me if you want)! LOL) We've been buying him these classic books lately as opposed to getting them out of the library since we have four boys and we figure certain books will get read several times over so we might as well just own them. As you can tell, he is voracious so we need to think of something quickly. He (barely 8) is a fairly advanced reader and is whizzing through The Lord of the Rings at an alarming speed ( I have not even read these books, people!! LOL He is his father's son is all I'll say.) Being 8, he still relies quite heavily on my (and dh's) opinions with regard to what he should read next. I've heard a lot of great things about Redwall so I'm thinking that I might steer my (oldest) son in this direction when he is done with his current books.
